Every September, Cat Lake hosts the Moose Derby. It is a week long tradition where each hunter brings back not only lots of delicious moose meat, but also the heads of each moose killed. The heads are then judged, measured and the winner announced during a huge celebratory feast. This year, the winner was one of my former students. He looked very proud when his name was announced!During the three day Thanksgiving long weekend, Cat Lake hosts a Mini Moose Derby. We all wonder who will win this one, but we will have to wait until Tuesday for the results.
Those are some big moose heads!! What happens to them once the judging is done? I hope they get stuffed and mounted.
